چکیده

Stroke extraction is a necessary part of the majority of semantic based off-line signature verification systems. This paper discusses some stroke extraction variants which can be efficiently used in such environments. First the different aspects and problems of signature verification are discussed in conjunction with off-line analysis methods. It is shown, that on-line analysis methods perform usually better than offline methods because they can make use of the temporal information (and thereby get a better perception of the semantics of the signature). To improve the accuracy of off-line signature verification methods the extraction of semantic information is necessary. Three different approaches are introduced to reconstruct the original strokes of a signature. One purely based on simple image processing algorithms, one with some more intelligent processing and one with a pen model. The methods are examined and compared with regard to their benefits and drawbacks on further signature processing.

Time-Efficient Stroke Extraction Method for Handwritten Signatures

Off-line signature verification methods have to tackle with a number of high resolution images, therefore it is vital to use efficient image processing algorithms. This paper proposes a heuristic stroke extraction algorithm to create a compact representation of the signature whilst minimizing the loss of semantic information and the computational needs. Some issues of the algorithm are highligh...

Stroke Extraction and Approximation with Interpolating Lagrange Curves

This paper proposes a stroke extraction method for use in off-line signature verification. After giving a brief overview of the current ongoing researches an algorithm is introduced for detecting and following strokes in static images of signatures. Problems like the handling of junctions and variations in line width and line intensity are discussed in detail. Results are validated by both usin...

Investigation of Off-Line Japanese Signature Verification Using a Pattern Matching

This paper deals with an off-line Japanese signature verification using a pattern matching method. An annoying problem encountered in off-line signature verification using a pattern matching is that variation of signature stroke widths and a registered signature selected from a set of reference samples affect the verification performance. In this paper, we propose a modified pattern matching me...

Classification Approaches in Off-Line Handwritten Signature Verification

The aim of off-line signature verification is to decide, whether a signature originates from a given signer based on the scanned image of the signature and a few images of the original signatures of the signer. Although the verification process can be thought to as a monolith component, it is recommended to divide it into loosely coupled phases (like preprocessing, feature extraction, feature m...
